George Oates is a designer and digital strategist working online since 1996.

She was on the founding team at Flickr, leading on design, and created the Flickr Commons. She then led Open Library at the Internet Archive, redesigning the Wayback Machine along the way. She directed design at Stamen, contributing to a 2017 US National Design Award in Interaction Design for the studio.

After moving to the UK in 2014, she ran the studio Good, Form & Spectacle providing digital services to international clients such as the British Museum, MoMA, Wellcome Collection, M+ Museum, and Het Nieuw Instituut. She also co-founded a small-batch hardware and content business called Museum in a Box. Then the pandemic happened, so she switched gears to create and establish the Flickr Foundation in 2022.

Today, George serves as Co-Founder and CEO of Deep Keep, making exploratory and enjoyable things to meet the challenges of long-term digital preservation. She conceived KeepRight over lunch in Los Angeles, and invited Dan Catt to join forces after seeing him talk at PaperCamp about his AI assistant, Kitty, which she suggested extending into a group context called Daybook.

A renowned keynote speaker, George is a fellow at Library Futures in Harvard's Berkman Klein Center and a research associate at the Edinburgh Futures Institute.

Dan Catt is an artist, engineer and researcher working out of his studio in Shrewsbury, UK. He built the mapping and geolocation tools at Flickr, then went on to work for The Guardian, and with the consultancy Micah Walter Studio on projects for the M+ Museum, the Smithsonian, WCMA, ICA Miami and Nordiska museet.

For the last several years he's been doing practice-led research in the creative arts, where he puts drawing machines, automatons and robots to work alongside him. He also runs his studio on early, local AI, treating the machines less as tools and more as an extension of his body and his creative process; an ongoing enquiry into what it actually means to make art alongside them.

The focus is on documenting the process, and the artefacts it leaves behind. He also teaches others to build and use drawing machines through a thriving YouTube channel, making the case (loudly) for creativity through maths, art and algorithms. Today he is a Co-Founder of Deep Keep, developing KeepRight, and the daily log tool Daybook, built from the lessons learned building Kitty, his studio AI.

Joshua Christman is a designer based in Los Angeles and New York City. He has helped numerous brands clarify their messaging and bring ideas to life from concept to final execution in the areas of branding, digital design, and video.
